Deloraine it the largest inland township,  located on the banks of the Meander River at the foothills of the Great Western Tiers mountain range. It is the gateway to Cradle Mountain and Highland Lakes District. The streets are lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings and make for a charming morning or afternoon stroll. The town's bakeries and cafes are popular local hotspots.

Deloraine is established as a major arts and craft centre, with many local galleries, craft shops and antique stores.  Deloraine also hosts the Tasmanian Craft Fair in November each year, attracting over 30,000 visitors to the area.  Many artists and crafts people have made a home in the Deloraine district, finding inspiration for their work in the beautiful natural environment.  The town also has a strong sporting culture with local football, netball and basketball club venues and facilities available, and much more.  Primary and High Schools are right on the door step and there is also a bus route through to Launceston or Devonport.

Deloraine is surrounded by classic 'English-style' countryside of rolling green hills, hedgerows, and Productive working farms.  Local attractions in the area include award-winning salmon, honey, raspberries and cheese. 

The town is a good base from which to explore Cradle Mountain, the Great Western Tiers, Mole Creek and the Central Highlands and only a short 30 minute drive to Launceston or Devonport.
